I recently got around to playing “Uncharted 4” on my PS4, mainly because it was one of the last PS4 titles on my list. I had just completed “God of War” (on hard mode), which had completely different mechanics and gameplay.

I got a bit ahead of myself as I kicked things off in hard mode, expecting to dive straight into some epic battles, but the game took its sweet time to pick up the pace. The absence of crosshairs and not having a mouse to control the gunfire made every encounter extremely difficult. It took a long time to get the hang of the combat mechanics and multiple attempts before I could cross a checkpoint. Sometimes, I was stuck on a level for around an hour. (I should have started on light difficulty, lol).

Story-wise, the game was paced very slowly at the beginning, and sometimes, I thought of leaving the game incomplete. But the story really started to shine around chapter 10, and that’s when I got hooked. The twists and the theme of greed throughout the game were some of its highlights. One of the best gameplays was the insane chase through the city with the mercenaries hot on my heels. The PS4 controller haptics made this experience even more engrossing. It’s funny when you think about it—Nathan Drake, just your average “treasure hunter,” taking out an army of mercenaries.

Now, if you haven’t checked out “Uncharted 4” yet, you really should. Despite a bit of a slow start and a learning curve with the controls, the adventure is worth it. Trust me, you’ll want to keep playing long after the credits roll.

Oh and fun fact, one of my USC professors helped program the game. Seeing his name pop up in the credits was a “wow” moment for me.
